Garofolo is originally from the Bronx, NY but settled into Dutchess County back in 1987. He decided to pursue his life-long dream of being not only a sports announcer, but a talk show host as well. In June of 1994, he combined the two and “Hudson Valley Sports-Talk” made its debut.

“Growing up with brothers, parents and relatives who were big-time sports fans, I was bitten by the sports-bug by the time I was four years old.”, said Garofolo. “Watching, listening, and reading everything that I could get my hands on about any sport, all year long.”

Garofolo’s youth was at the time of three broadcasting channels of black and white television and AM radio. He searched for sports updates and information without the luxury of ESPN. the internet, and podcasts. Instead, Garofolo relied on the a new form of sports delivery through the telephone

“Sports-Phone was a three minute phone call, introduced in the 1970’s, with the latest sports scores and information”. recalls Garofolo

In addition to sports casting, Carl has dedicated his spare time to supporting community  organizations, through volunteering and as MC for many local events.

Hudson Valley Sports-Talk” will celebrate its 25th anniversary on June 4th, 2019.
