The 7th annual Officials vs. Cancer boys basketball tournament will tip off with slates of games scheduled for Sunday, January 27th at SUNY New Paltz and Saturday, February 9th at Dutchess Community College.
These games are conducted by IAABO Board 114 which is the local boy’s high school basketball official’s organization and we have been able to raise nearly $60, 000 in our six years of running these games with a goal of raising funds to combat cancer. All services rendered by referees and other organizations are donated and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
Approximately over $2 million dollars, nationally, has been raised by IAABO boards around the country.
“Our local board has been one of the leading organizations in funds raised and we are very proud of this. ” commented Bill Proal, a 42 year member of the Board and past President. “It’s a personal thing for our membership as we have lost several men to this disease and we have several cancer survivors in our organization. ”
