Senator Sue Serino Hosts Forum on Combating Community Heroin and Opioid Epidemic

WAPPINGERS FALLS – On Wednesday, October 3rd, Senator Sue Serino, in conjunction with the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life Foundation, will be hosting an informational forum on combating the heroin and opioid epidemic. Community members will hear firsthand from those who have battled addiction and participants will learn how to save a life in the event of an overdose with a free Narcan training. Additionally, residents can bring their unused or expired prescription drugs to help “Shed the Meds” and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to safely dispose of them.

“The heroin and opioid epidemic has taken a devastating toll on too many here in our community,” said Senator Sue Serino. “Since taking office, I have been committed to engaging our local community and finding unique solutions to combat the statistics, prevent addiction, and save lives. I’m a strong believer that education is the key to prevention, and the goal of this event is to keep our community informed and educated so that together we can work to put an end to this terrible epidemic.”

This event is free and open to local residents of all ages. While an RSVP is not required, it is appreciated—especially for those looking to participate in the Narcan training. Please call Senator Serino’s District Office at 845-229-0106 to reserve your spot.
