VIDEO: Woman Rescued After Car Skids Into Creek

Woman Car Rescue from Creek

BLOOMING GROVE – Shortly before one o’clock Friday afternoon a car went off Tuthill Road in the Town of Blooming Grove and into Cromline creek.

The female driver lost control due to the wet roads and her car landed in the rain swollen creek.

Witnesses noticed a woman on the roof of a car while the creek water was rushing beneath her.  they called 911.

Washingtonville Fire Chief Hearn said the female driver was the only person in the car.  “She managed to climb onto the roof of the car”, said Hearn.

Fire departments from across southern Orange County responded, along with their dive teams.  Boats were blown up and ready to be deployed, if needed.

“When we get a call for a water rescue we deploy the boats and divers, but she was in good condition so we took our time and used the ladder to rescue her from the situation.”, said Hearn

The rescue took 45 minutes.

The unidentified woman is from Blooming Grove but did not want to speak on camera.

She was checked out by paramedics in a waiting ambulance.
