WICCOPEE – The John Jay Patriots have been playing hurt, but you would never know it looking at the scoreboard final of 35-0 against Suffern. The Patriots are down to their third string quarterback, but you wouldn’t know that either based on Joe Milici’s poise and athleticism. He scored a TD on a 2 yard plunge, and threw for a TD pass to Michael Blanchard.
Luke Mahon has been the offensive catalyst for Jay. He scored three touchdowns against Mahopac a week ago, in a 21-0 season opening win, and scored another two in this first home game of the season.
Jay’s defense has been stingy and Zack Timmons turned a Suffern pass into a quick pick-6 when he intercepted and took the ball 20 yards into the end zone untouched.
John Jay scored 28 points in the first half of this game; and for the second week in a row, gave up none.
The Patriots first big test will be Friday night when they travel to play cross town rival Arlington (10-7 win over Carmel). Both teams are 2-0.
