VIDEO: Poughkeepsie Lightning Cracks into the Cal Ripken World Series Semi Finals

BRANSON, MO – The train keeps rolling for the Poughkeepsie Lightning 12 year olds baseball team.  Representing New York in the Cal Ripken World Series, the Lightning shutout Pacific Southeast 5-0 Wednesday night to advance to the semi-finals Thursday evening at 8pm.

THe shutout was highlighted by the stellar pitching performance of Owen Paino who struck out 11 in five innings of work.  Jake Manco closed the game out in the 6th with two more strikeouts and the boys from Poughkeepsie are moving on.

It is the second shutout of the tournament for the Lightning, after beating Kentucky a day earlier 13-0.  Poughkeepsie ran through Pool Play undefeated with wins over Hawaii, Mississippi, and Kentucky and now face Mid-Atlantic in the World Series semi finals.
