Port Jervis Man Charged with Cocaine Possession

PORT JERVIS – A Port Jervis man was arrested following the execution of a ‘No Knock’ search warrant on Apr. 26, by members of the City of Port Jervis Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group at the second floor apartment located at 96 Franklin Street in the City of Port Jervis.

Officers arrested Carlos Tirado, age 31, and charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree with Intent to Sell (B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (Class D Felony) and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree, (A Misdemeanor).

An alleged quantity of cocaine, a scale and packaging materials were recovered during the search, said police.

Additionally, Tirado was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree (D Felony), Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the 3rd Degree (A Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor) and several vehicle and traffic law violations.

The charges are the result of an investigation into an incident that occurred on April 16 at about 11:39 p.m. in the City of Port Jervis where the defendant allegedly led police officers on a vehicle pursuit and was later apprehended during the service of this search warrant, said police.

The defendant was arraigned in Port Jervis City Court and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 bail pending further court appearances.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting this case.
