Inmate Dies of Apparent Suicide in County Jail

Goshen, NY –

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, on November 21, 2015, Shandi Parisi age 30 of the City of Newburgh, is alleged to have taken her own life while she was committed to the Orange County Jail on charges of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th and Petit Larceny.

Ms. Parisi had arrived in the Orange County Jail from the Town of New Windsor with a $5000.00 bail on Nov. 19, 2015, said police, and processed in to the facility after passing her medical and mental health suicide screening test.

Authorities state that Ms. Parisi was found by corrections officers in her cell unresponsive and added that Officers along with medical staff immediately began life saving efforts which were continued by EMS workers while Ms. Parisi was transported to ORMC where she was pronounced dead at 11:53 am.

The Sheriff’s Office stated that their preliminary investigations show that all procedures and policies were followed by jail staff.

Sheriff’s investigators were assigned and will be investigating the death further.

The New York State Commission of Corrections was notified of Ms. Parisi’s death and will also investigate said police.
