NEWBURGH, NY – Illusionist Chris Dare recently held his first Hudson Valley stage show “Dare to Believe” at the Newburgh Brewing Company to benefit Abilities First. The sold out show drew over 200 attendees.
Dare, a Hudson Valley native and graduate of Newburgh Free Academy high school, has performed for thousands of people around the world combining magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship. His “Magic with a Mission” has benefited several non profit organizations over the years including the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, Habitat For Humanity, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and many others. His mission is to inspire others with the belief that anything is possible.
“Magic With A Mission is just that”, said Dare. “It’s taking wonder and hope and sharing it with people that need it the most.” Dare not only performed for the audience, he also donated $1,500.00 to Abilities First. The Newburgh Brewing Company also donated the use of its space for the event.
“Tonight is a collaboration and benefit with Chris Dare and the Newburgh Brewing Company.”, said Advanced Marketing Director Melissa McCoy. “Chris has a broader mission of doing for others and we are the beneficiary of this event but it’s really about dare to believe, and that anything is possible. That’s how we represent the folks that we serve.”
Abilities First recently expanded its services into Orange County, so it was fitting that this event was held in Newburgh.
“We are now serving 40 students in this area with a highly specialized school program for kids with special needs.” said Abilities First CEO Jeffrey Fox. “We opened in Cornwall and we’ll be moving to a site that we own this next year in New Windsor. We’re very excited about this and we’re happy to be able to serve the community.”
Abilities First is a not-for-profit organization serving the needs of over 1,400 children and adults with developmental disabilities, from pre-school through adulthood throughout the Hudson Valley.
