PLEASANT VALLEY – The New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested David J. Hanlon Jr., age 40, of Hyde Park, following a traffic stop on a 2012 Nissan Sentra at 12:20 a.m. on Feb. 13, 2018, on West Road in the Town of Pleasant Valley for a traffic violation.
While interviewing Hanlon, the vehicle operator, a strong odor of marijuana was detected.
Further investigation alleges Hanlon was in possession of approximately 2.86 pounds of marijuana and two switch blade knives while being a convicted felon.
Hanlon was charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 2nd degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, all class D felonies.
A 38-year-old Hyde Park* woman, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested for allegedly possessing a small amount of cocaine and marijuana. She was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation.
The woman was released with appearance tickets returnable to the town of Pleasant Valley Court on February 22, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.
Hanlon was arraigned before the town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
Hanlon will appear in court at a later date to answer the charges.
