KINGSTON – Members of the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (U.R.G.E.N.T.) report the arrest of a Kingston woman following a heroin investigation.
On Jan. 12, 2018 at about 8:15 p.m., members of U.R.G.E.N.T. conducted a buy bust operation in the City of Kingston and arrested Gina M. Julian, 24, of Kingston, NY.
U.R.G.E.N.T. members initiated an investigation into the defendant after receiving information she was selling heroin.
According to officials, the defendant was already known by members of U.R.G.E.N.T. from her previous arrest on Dec. 23, 2017 in the Village of Saugerties in connection with handguns stolen from a former Saugerties police chief and the sale of heroin.
On that date, members of U.R.G.E.N.T., the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) and Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Detective Unit and Patrol Division conducted an undercover buy operation in the Village of Saugerties which led to the recovery of two stolen handguns, approximately 120 “bags” or “decks” of heroin and other stolen items, said officials.
During that arrest, Gina Julian was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (intent to sell), a class B felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor. She was arraigned and released on her own recognizance and ordered to appear at the Village of Saugerties Court on a future date and time.
During the buy bust operation conducted by U.R.G.E.N.T. on Jan 12, 2018, Gina Julian was found in possession of 6.9 grams of loose heroin, approximately 27 “bags” or “decks” of heroin and two digital scales, added officials.
The defendant was transported to the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center and charged with:
Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (1 count), a class B felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (2 counts), a class B felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (1 count), a class C felony
The defendant was arraigned in Town of Rosendale Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash or $30,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in the City of Kingston Court on a future date and time.
