MIDDLETOWN – Members of the City of Middletown Police Department Narcotics Unit, assisted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group and the New York State Police, executed a no-knock search warrant at 43 Lafayette Ave. in the City of Middletown.
According to authorities, the search warrant was obtained after an extensive investigation into the sale and trafficking of narcotics – specifically crack cocaine, heroin and fentanyl, by one of the residents.
During the execution of the warrant, officers located Shaheed Emery, age 37, inside the basement of the residence.
Emery was taken into custody without incident.
An investigation alleges that Emery recently moved to Middletown and had been residing on Lafayette Ave. since June of 2017.
During a search of the residence, officers from the Narcotics Unit located 155 grams of crack cocaine, 55 grams of cocaine, 80 grams of fentanyl, 12 grams of marijuana, 1 loaded .22 caliber handgun and approximately $33,000 in cash, according to authorities.
Emery was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st degree, an A-I felony; one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd degree, an A-II felony; one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a B felony; one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony.
Emery arrested and arraigned in Middletown City Court by the Honorable Robert Moson.
He was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail.
