POUGHKEEPSIE – On Jan. 20, Family Services’ Teen Resource Activity Center (TRAC) will hold its second annual MLK Peace & Love Basketball Tournament and Community Day from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Family Partnership Center located at 29 North Hamilton St. in Poughkeepsie.
The event will be held in the Family Partnership Center Gymnasium and Cafeteria. The event is free for the community.
During this event, children and families will be able to enjoy basketball and music by a DJ, participate in the Child ID Safety Program, eat pizza and ice cream, and have access to multiple community resource tables.
Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Peace is not merely a distant goal we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.” “The MLK Peace & Love Tournament brings our community together for an event the whole family will enjoy and supports the great talent of our city youth” said Jessica Wallach, Youth Services Coordinator.
TRAC has been a safe haven for adolescents in Poughkeepsie since 1999. Now serving more than 200 teens each year, TRAC offers a free, supervised place for youth to come afterschool. In the program, youth engage in basketball or performing arts, eat a nutritious dinner, and relax with friends, all while gaining exposure to positive adult role models.
