YORKTOWN – Supervisor Ilan Gilbert has declared a State of Emergency in the Town of Yorktown beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 until 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018.
The decision to declare the State of Emergency was in consultation with the Chief of Police and Highway Superintendent.
The declaration is consistent with the State of Emergency declared by Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Due to extremely hazardous conditions on the roadways, all travel on the roadways in the Town of Yorktown is restricted to Emergency Vehicles, Town Highway Vehicles, Utility Vehicles, and essential emergency personnel.
All unnecessary travel is prohibited and violators are subject to summons.
This State of Emergency will allow emergency personnel to perform the essential functions necessary to clear roadways, better aid persons in need of emergency critical care and prevent injury due to any downed power lines.
