Albany, NY – Governor Cuomo is approving 78-million in state funding to accelerate the first phase of a plan to overhaul Yonkers Public Schools. Phase one of the project is slated to cost 523-million. The bill was passed by the state Legislature in June and will enable the city to start building two new schools and rebuild Gorton High School. The Legislature last year approved a two-billion dollar bill to overhaul the district’s 39 aging buildings and the construction of two new buildings.
