LAKE KATRINE–Grace Community Evangelical Free Church in Lake Katrine held its first Living Nativity on Friday and Saturday night, an outreach to the community that included actors, animals and special music.
While it was designed to be a drive-through event, many people walked the grounds to get a closer look at shepherds by a campfire in the field and Mary and Joseph in the stable.
Animals like donkeys, sheep, goats and calves were featured as part of the Nativity scene, which was recreated in the church parking lot at 160 Seremma Court.
Dickens-style Victorian carolers and a children’s chorus of angels provided sounds of the season.
Free refreshments were served inside the church foyer.
Organizers said the outreach was meant to reveal the true meaning of Christmas.
