Two Warming Centers to Open in Sullivan County MONTICELLO – Due to the current and forecasted bitterly cold weather, Sullivan County is opening warming centers beginning today, Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.

These centers will remain open through noon this Saturday, Dec. 16.

The warming centers will be located in Monticello at the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center at 5 Jefferson Street and in Liberty at the United Methodist Church at 170 North Main Street.

Everyone is welcome to stop in and warm up, and these facilities will remain open overnight.

As a reminder, the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) – which can provide funds for fuel and heating system repair/replacement – is ongoing, and aid for emergency heating situations will be available starting Jan. 2 (per state rules).
