LAKE KATRINE–Grace Community Evangelical Free Church is hosting a living Nativity Dec. 15-16 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The free event, at 160 Seremma Court in Lake Katrine, will feature live animals and costumed characters dramatizing the birth of Jesus Christ. Look for a star show as shepherds in the fields find their way to the stable.

It will also include a Dickens-style Victorian choir and children’s chorus proclaiming the birth of the Savior.

Free festive refreshments will be available both nights.

Coordinator Robert Mitchell said this is the church’s first year hosting a living Nativity.

“It’s a great event to take the family to at this busy season,” he said. “In the rush of what has become such a secular season, we invite our neighbors to come experience the true meaning of Christmas. It’s not about presents or Santa Claus or parties. It’s about the birth of the Savior.”

The event is a drive-through, but visitors also are invited to park their cars and walk the grounds for an up-close look at this Christmas extravaganza.
