UPDATE 11/14/17: The victim of yesterday’s homicide was positively identified this morning, said Detective Lieutenant Matthew J. Clark of the City of Poughkeepsie Police.
Police will wait 24 hours to allow family members to be notified before the victim’s name will be released to the public, he said.
POUGHKEEPSIE – Two City of Poughkeepsie men were charged today with the murder of an unidentified male at 48 Marshall St. in the City that occurred just after 1 a.m. Monday.
City of Poughkeepsie Police report officers were dispatched for a person at 48 Marshall St. who was being tied up and beaten, said authorities.
Officers found a man bound and deceased in a first floor apartment, they added.
A subject leaving 48 Marshall St. was stopped and detained while another subject fled out the apartment window prior to their arrival.
The detained man, who police identified as David Perry, age 49, was brought to Police Headquarter for questioning.
According to police, Perry told them he and another person attempted to rob the unidentified man and during a struggle, but the man died.
Police identified the second man who fled out of the window as 19-year-old Daniel Barletta, a resident of the first floor apartment at 48 Marshall St.
Barletta was tracked down to New York City and taken into custody by members of the City of Poughkeepsie Police and N.Y.P.D., according to officials.
Both Perry and Barletta are being charged with Murder in the 2nd degree and are being held pending their arraignment
