STONY POINT – A Spring Valley man sustained serious internal injuries Tuesday morning from an apparent fall from a ladder while cutting trees.
According to Stony Point Police, the 53-year-old victim had been cutting trees at a friend’s home on N. Liberty Drive in Tomkins Cove and fell after a large section of the tree he was cutting knocked the ladder and threw him twenty feet to the ground.
A landing zone was set up by the Stony Point Fire Department and Stony Point Ambulance. The victim was airlifted by medical helicopter to Westchester Medical Center by Stat-Flight in serious condition. According to police, he is expected to survive.
Detectives from Stony Point Police and Rockland BCI assisted and are investigating the incident which appears to be accidental, said police.
