LAKE KATRINE–Grace Community Evangelical Free Church at 160 Seremma Court will be holding its second annual trunk-or-treat and harvest carnival on Oct. 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The free event, being billed as a safe alternative to Halloween, will feature bouncy houses, fall-themed games and contests, craft stations, music, food and beverages.
Last year, hundreds of children from the community went from car to car in the Grace Church parking lot to collect candy. Twenty-three vehicles had transformed into movie sets such as “The Wizard of Oz” or character themes like Ms. Pac-Man and Mickey Mouse.
Volunteers from the church will be grilling free hotdogs and hamburgers and offering bags of freshly made popcorn throughout the evening.
A bonfire also will be built to warm families that want to take a break from all the activities.
Children are encouraged to come dressed in non-scary Halloween costumes. In the event of rain, the carnival will be held on Oct. 29 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m..
