SAUGERTIES, NY – The annual Buy Local Expo, hosted by the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce, was well represented on Wednesday, with close to 100 local businesses participating and, hundreds of visitors attending.

” We make the point that very often you don’t buy from a business, you buy from a person, and to get to know that person is a very important part of the sale” , said Ulster County Chamber President Ward Todd.    “We talk a lot about the need to use social media but there’s nothing like that person to person connection”.

Diamond Mills Hotel and Conference Center converted its banquet halls to accommodate the pop up displays and booths needed for such an event.

“It’s usually used for wedding functions and formal affairs”, added Todd, “we transform it into the best, I think, expo in the region”.

” I believe its all about networking with all of the other businesses and we help each other out”, said Candy Smith, Marketing Representative at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingston.

Williams Lumber representative Marty Martin offered this observation, “The great thing about this expo is that it not only puts us in great camaraderie with our fellow small businesses owners but it also lets the public see that its not just about national companies but its also about the family owned companies here in the Hudson Valley”.  Williams Lumber is a generational business that has been around for 75 years.
