POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie man was arrested following a physical altercation after an investigation alleges he violated an order of protection.
New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Hakim M. Muhammad, age 32, of Poughkeepsie, on Sept. 16, 2017, for Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.
Officials report that at 10 a.m., Troopers responded to a report of a fight in progress on West Merritt Blvd. in the Town of Fishkill.
An investigation alleges Muhammad violated an Order of Protection by starting a physical altercation with the protected party.
The State Police were assisted at the scene by the Town of Fishkill Police Department.
Muhammad was arraigned at the Town of Fishkill Justice Court, and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 property bond.
If waived Muhammad is scheduled to appear before the Town of Fishkill Justice Court on at a later date.
