CITY OF NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh will begin the reconstruction of First St. between Front St. and the First Street Fishing Pier.

The planned work includes the reconstruction of the existing curbs and sidewalks for conformance to the latest ADA standards, installation of decorative crosswalks and a pedestrian plaza at the entrance to the First Street Fishing Pier.

The pedestrian plaza will include benches, bike rack, trash receptacle, lighting and landscaping.

The project is meant as an enhancement to the recently reconstructed Fishing Pier.

While construction is ongoing, the fishing pier will have limited access.

Traffic along Front St. within the vicinity of First St. will also be disrupted during construction hours.

Access for local businesses will be accommodated.

Work in the area will commence on Sept. 13, 2017, and will be completed by the beginning of December.
