Paula Young hosts “Public House” – intimate conversations with people making a difference in the Hudson Valley.
Paula’s Public House in Poughkeepsie opened in October 2016 on the site of the well-known Mulligan’s Irish House in the Red Oaks Mill section of town. It’s proprietor, Paula Young, has completely re-imagined the old, dark Irish pub into a bright, homey, comfortable pub and bar with a “food is love”-conceived menu.
Paula’s Public House is also the setting for “Public House”, a series of intimate conversations with people making a difference in the Hudson Valley. This segment was recorded in front of the restaurant’s beautiful stone fireplace.
Paula’s guest is Hudson Valley resident Cara Mia Bacchiochi, community activist with H.O.A.M. Hope On A Mission.
Hope on A Mission is a street ministry serving homeless, addicted women of Poughkeepsie. You can find volunteers from H.O.A.M. every Saturday evening, from 6:00 – 8:00pm, on the corner of S. Clinton and Main Streets, providing the homeless with clothing, food, hygiene products and counseling.
H.O.A.M.’s mission is to provide safe, loving relationships to women whom have lost trust in the world, to empower them to reclaim responsibility for their lives with dignity. Hope On A Mission works to restore dignity to homeless and addicted women of the streets of Poughkeepsie through relationships of unconditional love.
