Paula Young hosts “Public House” – intimate conversations with people making a difference in the Hudson Valley.
Paula’s Public House in Poughkeepsie opened in October 2016 on the site of the well-known Mulligan’s Irish House in the Red Oaks Mill section of town. It’s proprietor, Paula Young, has completely re-imagined the old, dark Irish pub into a bright, homey, comfortable pub and bar with a “food is love”-conceived menu.
Paula’s Public House is also the setting for “Public House”, a series of intimate conversations with people making a difference in the Hudson Valley. This segment was recorded in front of the restaurant’s beautiful stone fireplace. Paula’s guest is Hudson Valley resident Matt Alexander.
Matt Alexander was elected to his first term as Mayor of the Village of Wappingers Falls in 2007 and has served the Village as Mayor ever since.
Mayor Alexander’s priorities have centered around improving critical infrastructure, promoting economic development, watershed protection, and securing essential services for Village residents. Mayor Alexander developed the “Top Five Priorities” approach to addressing Village’s most serious problems and systematically worked to develop real and timely solutions.
Mayor Matt is also co-owner of Stone Bridge Antiques. The business was lost in the June 3rd fire that severely damaged four buildings in the village’s business district.
