MAMARONECK – On July 18, 2017 at approximately 5:49 p.m., the New York State Police from Troop T responded to a reported motor vehicle collision that occurred on Interstate 95 northbound between Exit 18B and 19.

According to authorities, Troopers arrived on scene and located an adult male subject who appeared to have suffered serious injuries including gunshot wounds. Police said it is unclear how the victim exited the van.

The victim, who police identified as 24-year-old Mouhamed Cisse of Bronx, NY, was an occupant in a GMC U-Haul van bearing Arizona license plates with possible right front end damage.

He was transported to Jacobi Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation indicates the van was noted swerving in the roadway.

The van struck a maroon Honda which was also traveling northbound on I-95.

The van became temporarily disabled on the grassy shoulder of the roadway before it re-entered the roadway.

The unidentified operator of the van stopped momentarily in the roadway and an eyewitness was able to take the photograph of the offending van, said police.

The U-Haul van has not been located at this time and it is unknown how many occupants were in the vehicle, added police.

The incident necessitated the closure of I-95 while the incident was investigated by members of Troop K and Troop T.

The State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident contact the State Police in Hawthorne by calling (914) 769-7600.
