POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie man sought as a parole absconder was apprehended by City of Poughkeepsie Police following a short foot pursuit.
City of Poughkeepsie Police Officers and Detectives arrested 23-year-old Corey Latimer on Jul. 14 about 10:30 p.m. after they spotted him on Catherine St., according to police.
As police attempted to execute the arrest, Latimer fled.
After a short foot chase, Latimer was taken into custody and found to possess a loaded .32 caliber revolver.
Latimer was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, a class C felony, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation, and as a parole absconder.
Latimer is being held in City of Poughkeepsie lockup pending his arraignment.
The officers and detectives involved in the arrest were working a Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) detail. GIVE is funded through the NYS Department of Criminal Justice Services. The funding is for strategies focused on the reduction of crimes involving the use of firearms.
