FLORIDA, NY – ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc., announced ShopRite of Ellenville’s 5K Run and Walk for Veterans will take place on Saturday, August 5 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon.

The event will begin at ShopRite of Ellenville, located at 1 ShopRite Boulevard, and end at Joseph Y. Resnick Airport, located at 199 Airport Road.

All proceeds will benefit local veteran’s organizations in the communities its stores serve, including The Tower of Hope, Hudson Valley Honor Flight, The Committee for the Families of War Veterans and The Orange County Veterans Food Pantry.

The entrance fee to participate is $25 per person for the run and $15 for the 1.5-mile fun walk (prices will increase an additional $5 on race day), which includes a race day tee shirt for the first 100 participants who sign up. Runners and walkers can register at https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/Ellenville/ShopRite5KHonorRunRunningForThoseWhoServed, where consumers can also make direct donations to contribute to the cause.

Packet pickup will take place on Friday, August 4 at ShopRite of Ellenville from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., or onsite on August 5 beginning at 7:30 a.m.

On race day, participants and attendees can enjoy music, raffles and refreshments, as well as an awards ceremony immediately following the race.

ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. will continue its support of United States servicemen and women and their families. As part of this ongoing commitment, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. is currently holding its ninth annual Veterans Fundraising Campaign. Thirty-four ShopRite stores in New York and New Jersey – including its stores in Albany, Colonie, Niskayuna and Slingerlands – have banded together to collect donation at checkout, and raise additional funds by organizing events including 5K runs and walks, food drives, raffles and more. In 2016, ShopRite raised $765,000 to benefit local veterans’ organizations, and has raised more than $2.8 million since the campaign’s 2009 inception.
