TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Two Millerton men are facing felony robbery charges following a reported shooting at the Poughkeepsie Inn on South Road.
Ronald J. Spero Jr., Town of Poughkeepsie Chief of Police, reports on Tuesday, Jul. 11, 2017 receiving a call at around 1:30 p.m. for a subject shot in a hotel room at the Poughkeepsie Inn at 2625 South Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
The scene was secured by responding Officers and the shooting victim was transported immediately to MidHudson Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In addition, said Spero, two alleged suspects were detained after a brief area search.
They were both charged with Robbery 1st degree (5 counts) – all class B Felonies.
The initial investigation alleges the defendants were known to the victim and witnesses, and the shooting was not a random act of violence, said Spero.
The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department was assisted by the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, The New York State Police, the Arlington Fire District, and the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.
The defendants were identified as Akbar McClennon, 31 years of age, from and Jarrin Mayes, 28 years of age, also from Millerton.
Both defendants were arraigned before Town Justice Stephan Krakower and remanded to Dutchess County Jail on $250,000/$500,000 bail, to reappear before Town Justice Paul Sullivan.
This investigation is ongoing, and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance.
