ORANGEBURG – A Hillsdale, NJ man is facing felony charges following a motor vehicle accident in Pearl River on Sunday, Jul. 9, 2017.
Police said about 5:45 p.m. Orangetown Police allege Kevin Thompson, age 27, was operating a vehicle on West Washington Ave. in Pearl River when he crossed over the double yellow line and struck another vehicle head on.
It is also alleged that Thompson was intoxicated at the time of the accident, according to police.
Police said the accident caused serious physical injuries to Thompson, the passenger in Thompson’s vehicle and three occupants in the vehicle he struck. An additional occupant in the vehicle that was struck received minor injuries.
Pearl River Fire Department, Medic 21, Medic 5, Pearl River Ambulance Corps, South Orangetown Ambulance Corps, Nanuet Community Ambulance Corps, and Ramapo all responded to assist with the accident and the injured.
Thompson was arrested and a chemical test was performed to determine his blood alcohol content with the results pending, said police.
He was charged with five counts of felony Vehicular Assault 1st degree, felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree, and the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.
Thompson was held pending arraignment.
