Since 1977, Penguin Rep has produced over 150 shows seen by more than 400,000 people, bringing celebrated writers, actors, directors and designers to its 108-seat theater in a updated, re-conditioned, century-old barn on Crickettown Road.

Since its beginnings, Penguin Rep has specialized in bringing to the mid-Hudson region cutting-edge new plays by established and award-winning playwrights and by emerging writers. Penguin Rep also presents important existing plays that have had minimal exposure.

Penguin Rep Theatre is funded, in part, by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts. But Penguin Rep counts on tax-deductible contributions and grants from audience members, subscribers, governments and community agencies.
