KINGSTON – Kingston Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at 11:20 p.m. Friday night after they were dispatched to Franklin and Prospect Streets for a reported gunshot victim.

Police said a 45-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to HealthAlliance by EMS for further treatment.

Their investigation alleges the victim may have been involved in an altercation in the area of Van Buren and Prospect Streets.

During the altercation, police said several shots were fired and at some point the victim was struck by a bullet. The victim was able to run to the area of Franklin and Furnace Streets where he was located by officers.
