HIGHLAND – Wednesday’s loss will be the most memorable loss for Abigail Munson. While her Highland Huskies lacrosse team fell to Goshen 18-9 at home, Munson scored the 100th goal of her career. “I was definitely really hungry to get that goal.” said after the game. “My teammate Emma (DiLascio) gave me the assist, she saw the lane and it was a perfect throw.” Munson, a senior, has been on the Highland varsity lacrosse team since she was a 7th grader. Munson had the hatrick in this one.
Goshen relied on its senior leadership to jump out to a huge lead, led by five goals from Mackenzie Kurek and four more by Hannah Welshoff. Kelly Fellenzer and Riley Miller each scored three goals.
Highland is carrying five 8th graders and five 9th graders and the team’s leading scorer, Elizabeth Fino, is only a freshman. Fino scored four goals; she scored her 100th goal of her career a couple of weeks ago. Sarah Precour and Hannah Sullivan also scored.
“The underclassman on this team have actually been playing longer than most of my seniors”, said Highland head coach Kim Caso.
Miranda Bellacicco had nine saves in goal for the Huskies, Haley Winship had 11 saves for Goshen.
