AMENIA – According to New York State Police, an Amenia man was charged on May 18, 2017, with sending indecent e-mails to a minor.
On May 8, 2017, Troopers were dispatched to investigate allegations that Anthony S. Powell, age 30 of Amenia, was exchanging inappropriate e-mails with a minor, according to officials.
An investigation alleges that Powell sent e-mails that were sexual in nature to a female victim under the age of 16.
On May 18, 2017, New York State Police from the Dover Plains barracks arrested Powell for Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the 1st Degree, a Class D Felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Powell was arraigned in the Town of Dover Justice court before the Honorable Judge Abrams.
The defendant was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
Powell is due to reappear in the Town of Amenia Court at a later date and time.
