POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie Police report that on May 5, 2017 at 9:21 p.m., a male entered the store located at 75 Garden St., placed a handkerchief over his mouth, put his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun, and demanded money, according to officials.
After receiving the money, the male fled the store running east on Mansion Street.
On May 11, 2017 at 5:24 p.m. a male entered La Deliziosa at 10 Mount Carmel Pl., pulled a mask over his face, put his hand in his pockets as if he had a gun, and demanded money from the clerk, said officials.
After receiving the money the male fled the store running north on Mount Carmel.
Officials report that after an investigation, Wayne Franklin, 23, was identified as the alleged suspect.
Franklin was arrested on Main Street later that evening at 7:50 p.m.
Franklin was charged with Robbery 2nd degree, a C felony, as well as Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, an A misdemeanor. Franklin was remanded to Dutchess County Jail.
On May 17, 2017, after an investigation Wayne Franklin was charged with Robbery 2nd degree for robbing the store at 75 Garden Street on May 5, 2017. He was arraigned on this new charge and remanded to Dutchess County Jail.
