NEW PALTZ –   It was soggy and sloppy playing conditions at New Paltz Middle School on Saturday morning, but Highland picked up a nice 13-2 road win over the Huguenots, fueled by five unanswered goals in the third period.

Seven Highland Huskies contributed to the scoring, led by Jack Young and Roger Hegeman, each with three goals apiece.  Michael Caso and Christian Canino had two goals apiece, while Jesse Weaver, Chris Hammond, and Jack Frederick each scored a goal.  Hammond helped out with three assists.

For New Paltz, JC Rigano and Noam Schwartz scored.

Highland jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead after the first quarter and led 5-1 at halftime.  The Huskies came off the leash in the 3rd quarter with five goals, and added another three in the 4th quarter.

New Paltz scored one in the 1st quarter and one in the 4th quarter.

Giorgio D’Angelo had 10 saves in goal for Highland.  Gabe Guido and Evan Holland combined for 19 saves for New Paltz.

The Huskies are 11-4 overall and 4-1 in league play.  New Paltz is 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the league.
