PORT JERVIS – Port Jervis Police report that on April 25, 2017, Daniel O’Keefe, age 19, of Middletown, NY and Eric Wist, age 21, of Port Jervis, were arrested by Port Jervis Police and charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd (both felonies) and Criminal Trespass in the 3rd, a misdemeanor, based upon an investigation into an incident that occurred during the early morning of April 25 when a patrolling police officer discovered a damaged security fence and gate located at Advanced Recovery, 35-41 Mechanic Street, in the City’s West End.
Officers allege the suspects unlawfully entered the fenced in storage property and stole a 2009 Ford Super Duty Mason Dump Truck crashing the truck through the company’s security gate during the incident, according to authorities.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Matamoras, Pennsylvania by Eastern Pike Regional Police. Port Jervis Police Detectives were able to identify and arrest the defendants without incident on West Main Street in the City of Port Jervis.
Further investigation by detectives alleges the defendants allegedly burglarized commercial storage sheds located at A1A Storage Facility located at 109 West Main Street in the City’s West End Section.
Both defendants were additionally charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony) and Possession of Burglar Tools, a Misdemeanor.
Police said O’Keefe was further charged with an arrest warrant for a violation of probation.
Both defendants were arraigned in Port Jervis City Court and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 bail pending further court appearances.
