CHESTER – Assemblyman James Skoufis (D-Woodbury) announced that the Orange County Board of Elections has approved his proposal to allow residents in the far back corner of Whispering Hills to vote closer to home. Previously, these residents were forced to travel to Goshen in order to cast their ballot, despite the fact that there was a polling location nearby right in their Chester-based development.

“Voting is an American right and it should be treated as such,” said Assemblyman Skoufis. “Allowing for a more convenient voting location will ensure all residents of Whispering Hills can easily get to the polls and make their voices heard.”

While most residents of Whispering Hills have always voted at the club house, a slice of the development has been required to travel to Dikeman Firehouse in Goshen. Now, all Whispering Hills residents can conveniently cast a ballot at the club house, located at 2 Club House Drive, Chester.

“These voters will have a far more convenient ride to the voting booth with this change,” said Sue Bahren, Orange County Board of Elections Commissioner. “We’re extremely grateful to Assemblyman Skoufis for taking the initiative and offering this prudent proposal.”
