PORT JERVIS – Brandi Comfort, age 31, of Matamoras, PA, was arrested on April 16, 2017, on Franklin Street, by Port Jervis Police Detectives and charged with three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, and three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree (possess with intent to sell), all class B felony offenses. Detectives allege that Comfort had sold heroin to another person on three different dates.
Comfort was arraigned in Port Jervis City Court before the Honorable James M. Hendry, III, City Court Judge, and remanded to the custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on $15,000 cash bail.
James Purcell, age 32, of Milford, PA, was arrested by officers on April 17, 2017, outside the Port Jervis Market Place (formerly Sav-a-Lot) on Jersey Avenue. According to police, officers responded to an early morning alarm call at the establishment and located Purcell who claimed to be a key holder. Further investigation indicated that Purcell was wanted on a Port Jervis City Court Bench Warrant, and had burglarized the establishment and stole money.
Purcell was charged by officers with Burglary in the third degree, a class D felony, and Petit larceny, a class a misdemeanor. He was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor, after he was found in possession of several bags of heroin. Purcell was also arrested for a failure to appear bench warrant issued in 2014.
Purcell was arraigned in Port Jervis City Court before the Honorable Matthew D. Witherow, City Court Judge. He was remanded to the custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on $25,000 cash bail on the burglary and larceny charges; an addition $2,500 cash bail was set on the possession charge.
