CORTLANDT – New York State Police from the Cortlandt Barracks were dispatched by Westchester County 911 to a burglary in progress about 1:30 p.m. on Apr. 11 in the Town of Cortlandt.
Police said the female caller reported a male acquaintance was attempting to enter her McGuire Lane home.
Arriving Troopers observed the front door of the home forced open with Peter T. Kennelly, age 35 of Yonkers, located on the second floor with metal knuckles attempting to punch his way into a room where the female victim had barricaded herself, according to police.
Further investigation alleges Kennelly had damaged a second story window by throwing a rock through it and also used a rock to damage a vehicle that was parked in the driveway, added police.
He was charged with Burglary in the 1st Degree, a Class B Felony, and Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony.
Kennelly was arraigned by the Honorable Daniel McCarty at the Town of Cortlandt Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or bond.
He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Cortlandt Court at a later date.
