WALLKILL – Despite a 3 for 4 day by Wallkill catcher John Zinko, the Marlboro Iron Dukes pushed their winning streak to four by relying on deep pitching and timely hitting for a 5-2 road win over the Panthers.

This win was truly a team effort as four different players had RBIs, and three pitchers combined for the win.  “Hopefully we have enough arms to keep us competitive and healthy.”, said head coach John Morrissey.   “We have a few guys who haven’t been able to throw yet; Mother Nature made it impossible to have a preseason, so we are still trying to get guys some work on the hill”, he added.

Jacob Dreyer got the win as the starting pitcher, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs in 4 1/3 innings of work.  Brendan Mahusky came on in middle relief, throwing 1 2/3 innings, and Sam Mongelli closed it out in the 7th  with two strikeouts.

Christian Diorio had a pinch hit double and scored a run.  Austin Casey also doubled for the Iron Dukes.

Phil Janiero was 1 for 2 at the plate and scored twice.

Zinko and Betcher drove in runs for Wallkill.
