Topfield Equestrian Center (TEC), the therapeutic riding center in Cold Spring, is inviting friends and neighbors to its very first Kentucky Derby fundraising event. All are welcome to join TEC on Saturday, May 6th at 4:30 p.m. for the most thrilling two minutes in sports–The 143rd Running of the Roses–The Kentucky Derby!
More than just a horse race, the Derby is a tradition dating back to 1875. That’s a lot of parties, and TEC is throwing one, so mark your calendars and join TEC for its first networking and fundraising event of the 2017 campaign.
Taking place on the beautiful grounds of Stonecrop Gardens in Cold Spring and boasting awe-inspiring views of the majestic Hudson River Valley, TEC has made sure that this event has it all: local bourbon tastings, traditional mint julips, mouthwatering authentic southern style fare, and live coverage of the race on multiple big screen TV’s. With door prizes, raffles, officially licensed Derby memorabilia and on-site OTB wagering machines, chances are you won’t leave this event empty handed.
Without the generous support of TEC’s benefactors and community partners, Topfield Equestrian Center would be unable to continue providing the community with the types of programs that are changing lives every day. TEC offers an environment where people with disabilities can overcome physical, psychological and emotional barriers. Through equine-assisted activities, both on horseback and the ground, TEC brings joy and abilities to its clients. Fundraising is large part of how we’re able to secure the funding and support necessary but who says that fundraising can’t be done in a big colorful hat.

A Kentucky Derby Party is all about fashion!
For Her: The Kentucky Derby is a chance for every woman to express her inner Southern Belle. The race’s founder, Colonel M. Lewis Clark, Jr., had a vision for an experience that felt both comfortable and luxurious. Today, a myriad of fashions can be found at the Derby – from cool sundresses to simple cocktail dresses and even more formal attire. But all these styles have one thing in common: the big Derby hat! Learn more about the hat tradition of the Kentucky Derby. Casual is key. Emphasize your Derby hat with a colorful sundress or business-casual attire. Simple accessories and fashionable shoes make the perfect compliment.
For Him: The Kentucky Derby provides a splendid excuse for men to get just as dressed up and decked out as the ladies! The modern Derby man possesses an unparalleled color palette. Sun-drenched, tropical colors in bold stripes or busy plaid and bright pastels steal the limelight. Although, if you want a more polished look, a classic navy or pinstripe blazer is always in style. But remember, gentlemen: The secret to looking great is confidence. Whatever you wear, wear it proud!
You’ll want to be fashionable but casual. Slacks and a button-down shirt with tie is acceptable attire. Show your Derby spirit and break out some vibrant spring colors.
