RHINEBECK – ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, NY, announced that Alicia O’Keefe has been appointed program coordinator for its soon-to-be-dedicated Center for Neurodegenerative Care at Ferncliff.
In her new role, O’Keefe will oversee the 38-bed residential care center, the only specialized care facility in Hudson Valley dedicated to serving the complex medical, social and emotional needs of people with Huntington’s disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
A 13-year veteran of Ferncliff, O’Keefe has been involved in the development of the center from its earliest stages. She will continue to collaborate closely with her predecessor, Charissa Brown, who has been named program coordinator for ArchCare’s renowned Huntington’s disease center at Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center in New York City.
“Alicia’s long history with Ferncliff, her familiarity with our residents and families and her dedication to those we serve made her the obvious choice to guide the center’s operations,” said Michael Deyo, executive director at Ferncliff. “Her passion and deep experience put our residents and their families in the most capable and compassionate hands.”
ArchCare is the healthcare system of the Archdiocese of New York. The Ferncliff center will officially be dedicated on April 12 by New York Archbishop Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who will celebrate Mass and bless the new facility before presiding over a ribbon-cutting ceremony with residents, families and community leaders.
O’Keefe earned her bachelor in social work from Marist College. She is chair of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA)-Hudson Valley Team HOPE Walk and a member of the Hudson Valley Care Transition Coalition and the Council of Agencies, which provides services to the elderly in Dutchess County. Additionally, O’Keefe is an active member and volunteer for Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park, a member of the Hyde Park Visual Environment Committee and committee chair of both the Hyde Park Garden Tour and the Hyde Park Home for the Holiday Tour.
O’Keefe lives in Hyde Park, NY, with her husband and four children.
