DOVER PLAINS – A Seattle, Washington man is facing felony burglary charges in Dutchess County following a 911 call for a possible burglary in progress.
New York State Police at Dover report they arrested 24-year-old John Darden, for Burglary 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony on Feb. 28, 2017.
On Tuesday afternoon, Dutchess County 911 dispatched Troopers to a possible burglary in progress on Mill Road in the Town of North East.
The caretaker of the property observed lights being turned on and off inside of the residence along with seeing a male in the kitchen, said police.
Troopers made contact with Darden while still in the residence. He exited the home and was taken into custody.
Police said during an investigation, they discovered Darden had traveled to the area from New York City and discovered the residence while walking on the rail trail.
He entered the property on Feb. 27, 2017 and remained until he was discovered on Feb. 28, 2017.
Darden was arraigned in the Town of Amenia Court by the Honorable Judge Moore who remanded him to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
The defendant is scheduled to appear in the Town of North East Court at a later date.
