POUGHKEEPSIE – Rebuilding Together Dutchess County (RTDC), an affiliate of the leading national nonprofit in safe and healthy housing, will partner with Abilities First as part of the newly launched Non-Profit Repair Program.
The program was introduced as an expansion of the organization’s existing Rebuilding Day Program and will support the goal of being a strong community revitalization partner. Local non-profit agencies are assisted with facility repairs and renovations, allowing them to focus their resources on their vital community programs. Abilities First is an organization serving 1,200 children and adults throughout the Hudson Valley with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
On Saturday, June 4 over 50 volunteers will paint the exterior of an Abilities First residential facility in Poughkeepsie. “There is a wonderful connection between our mission to assist homeowners and their residential services. It is very fitting that our non-profit program is rehabilitating a place so many individuals call home,” said Rebuilding Together Executive Director Christina Boryk. “Providing repairs to homes and nonprofit facilities will have a lasting impact on our community.”
“We are honored that Rebuilding Together Dutchess County has selected Abilities First as a non-profit project. As a fellow not-for-profit organization, we value RTDC’s work and welcome the collaborative opportunity to better our community.” said Abilities First Chief Advancement Officer Melissa McCoy.
