ROCKLAND COUNTY –
According to the NYS Thruway Authority, the new All-Electronic Tolling gantry constructed over the southbound lanes of the Thruway (I-87/287) near exit 10 in Rockland County will go ‘live’ at 12 a.m., Saturday, April 23rd.
It will temporarily replace the Tarrytown toll plaza.
For customers with E-ZPass, there will be no change in how a toll is collected.
For those without an E-ZPass account, there is another option called “Tolls by Mail.”
This allows motorists to continue driving at highway speed rather than stopping to pay cash at a toll booth.
As a vehicle passes under the gantry, license plates are read by sophisticated cameras and a bill will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle.
